InDesign file conversion

Same as the old Creative Cloud Connector, opening old InDesign files (INDD) in a new InDesign version - you’re required to upgrade the INDD file to work with it.

Adobe enforces this; hence it is not something we have control over.

Example

So, let’s say you download an INDD file made in InDesign 16 via the connector.

You’ll be presented with the following prompt - where the tab in InDesign will say “…[Converted]” (1):

Here, you select the InDesign document inside the prompt (2) (there will always only be one), and press Save.

Now, your local copy of this file will be upgraded to the newest version.

Even if you make no changes to the file, it’s still recommended that you upload your upgraded file - as this will ensure that your colleagues don’t have to do this manual step the next time.

Feel free to upgrade the INDD files; the DAM Center stores all old versions of all files that are replaced.
