Opening documents from Digizuite™ Media Manager 5
Office documents that are uploaded as assets in the Digizuite™ Media Manager can be opened directly from the asset previewcard. In order to open the document, click on ‘More’ on "Open" under the online preview/icon (dependent of the availability) and in a few seconds the the document’s asset card and select ‘Open’. The document will load in the correct application.
If the document is not locked, the user will be able to save the changes to the asset after they finish working with it.

Lock functionality
Once an asset is opened in Word/Excel/PowerPoint and the user is logged in in the Office Connector, the asset becomes locked for other users. It means that other users can open the same document, make their own changes to it and save it as a new asset, but they cannot replace the old asset. Only the user who has locked the asset has the ability to do that.It is possible to check out a document just like any other asset in the DAM.
The locked documents are marked with an "eyelocked" icon.
Given the correct role, some users have the ability to force-unlock the documents. If another user force-unlocks the asset, the original user will lose the ability to replace the current asset. If this happens, the user is presented with the following message:

The user can save the an Office document back to the Media Manager either as a revised asset or as a new asset.
Click on the three dots ‘Menu’ icon in the upper right corner of the Office Connector application, then ‘Save’ and select ‘New asset’.
This will open a new window, which presents the user with two possibilities:

If the document the user is working on was opened from the DAM, there will be two possibilities for saving it after applying changes:
If the user selects
...
‘New asset’, the old document will be preserved and the document with the revisions applied to it will be saved as a new asset.
...
If the user selects ‘Existing asset’, the old document will be replaced with the revised document.
