Digizuite™ Adobe Creative Cloud Connector 5.5 is a brand new, completely re-rewritten product, offering new functionality, better stability and more internal control over both the UI and the features.

Below consists of two elements:

  • Compatibility Matrix between MM and CCC versions

  • The breaking changes from 2.1 to CCC 5.5

Compatibility Table

A a rule of thumb then CCC follows the MM versions when it is features that involves database changes such as using new metadata. So if a feature was introduced in CCC 5.5.2 then it requires MM 5.5.2. But newer CCC can be used with older versions of MM but just without specific features that was introduced in later MM’s**. You can go to CCC5.5 Release notes to see all releases of CCC.

**However, we do provide specific configuration scripts to enable certain features and in those instances please consult your Technical Account Manager. An overview can be seen in below table.

Brand consistency

When developing the product in-house, we now have greater control over the Digizuite brand. Thanks to this we can provide our users with seamless experience when working with our Adobe connector, as the product re-uses the familiar elements of the ecosystem and therefore makes the UI consistent across the board.

...

  • Quick and easy connecting to environments without the need to configure a separate site, unless more customization is desired.

  • Logging in both with regular Digizuite credentials and Single Sign-On.

  • Well-known methods of finding just the right asset: folder navigation, free-text search, sorting and filters.

  • Read-only asset information to make sure the right asset is used.

  • Asset upload and download.

  • The ability to quickly insert assets from the DAM into the working area.

  • The ability to switch between high resolution and low resolution when working with large images.

  • Duplicate check of assets already existing in the DAM.

  • Link Manager to easily manage all the assets linked in the active document.

  • Check in/Check out functionality to prevent multiple users from working on the same document at the same time.

  • Asset Relation enables the option to see which assets relates to a specific document when viewed in the Media Manager.

InDesign file conversion

...

Adobe enforces this; hence it is not something we have control over.

Example - Insert from Desktop or local folder

So, let’s say you download insert an INDD file made in InDesign 16 via the connectorfrom the Desktop or a folder on your PC.

You’ll be presented with the following prompt - where the tab in InDesign will say “…[Converted]” (1):

...

Info

Feel free to upgrade the INDD files; the DAM Center stores all old versions of all files that are replaced.

Example - Insert from the connector

The connector handles the convertion from a previous version (Indesign 16) to a new InDesign version (InDesign 17) automatically.

Info

The connector does not handle the conversion from a new InDesign version (InDesign 17) to a previous version (InDesign 16)
