Sharing

Sharing

Sharing is a crucial feature of KeyShot Dock that enables users to securely distribute and collaborate on digital assets both within and outside the organization. Sharing ensures that the right stakeholders—whether internal teams or external partners—have access to the right assets when they need them, while maintaining control over how those assets are used and protected.

Sharing can be split into two categories

  • Sharing a single asset

  • Sharing multiple assets

Additionally this can be executed for internal users and external people not part of the organization.

Single asset sharing

The single asset sharing comes in two flavors

  • Link

  • E-mail

It allows sharing the asset as a downloadable link that can be copy-pasted or sent by e-mail. Furthermore it allows specifying what rendition should be shared and an expiry date on the share.

Multi asset sharing - Collections

Multi asset sharing is done using collections. Collections are a container for one or more assets allowing assets to be shared with both internals and externals. Sharing a collections gives access to a minimal web view allowing the accessor to see the asset including a selected set of metadata.

The Sharee controls the following things

  • What metadata (if any) should be visible

  • If the assets should be downloadable

  • Expiry and start dates

  • Password protection

Additionally, this type of share can be shared in 4 different ways

  • Link

  • e-mail

  • Users

  • Groups

Where the first two are intended for external non-users and the two latter are for internal users.

Sharing overview

On-top of the sharing abilities the users can see and overview on which shares are available for a given asset and/or collection. Furthermore, each share can be revoked manually if the available assets should no longer be available.
